Migration of 3dcart Web shop to WooCommerce

Client Requirements

The client had outgrown 3dcart and wanted to move from 3dcart to a WooCommerce based scalable setup. During migration, the client wanted to ensure that the upcoming staging setup of WooCommerce is up with all latest orders, incrementally imported from 3dcart.

Solution

WooCommerce installation was setup and configured to match the client’s needs.

Extract, transform and load jobs were completed transforming the data from 3dcart in the format required by WooCommerce. A WordPress plugin was developed that imported the data either in full import, or incrementally. To copy over data from 3dcart special scripts were developed that were only available in web pages. The scripts operated as a browser extension and provided a CSV output.

Results

The migration was carried out smoothly without any loss of data and obstruction in the live working of the platform. The client now has an optimized WooCommerce based scalable setup matching their needs.
